Seguito le istruzioni sul link...fatto tutto da shell con utente root ma mi ha dato degli errori e quindi non son riuscita a configurarla!
Io non capisco proprio il perchè e che posso fare di altro...

Dunque con un po' di ricerche ho scoperto che devi installare il modulo r1000, il problema è che non sembra per niente una cosa facile ed il forum brulica di post al riguardo

Temo che il compito possa essere al di la delle tue possibilità, l'unico consiglio che mi sento di darti è quello di provare con altre distro e vedere se ce n'è qualcuna che riconosce la tua scheda di rete.

Ho scoperto di avere la versione di kernel 2.6.17-5mdv.
Da quanto letto in un altra discussione con questo kernel ci sono problemi!
Devo reinstallarne un altro?
Quindi ricompilare il kernel?

C'è la configurazione del tuo portatile con una Debian.
Dal comando lspci che hai riportato sembrerebbe che non sia stata riconosciuta la scheda audio.
Allega (se ti riesce) l'output del comando (da root in una shell);
lspci -v
e del comando;
lsmod
