no, è sufficiente installare il kernel-desktop e il suo pacchetto devel corrispondente. Io l'ho fatto ieri, per poter installare VMWare Player 2.0.2 (su kernel-laptop non ne voleva sapere di installarsi )

Poi, magari puoi anche cancellare il kernel-laptop....

Il tutto lo fai da "Installa e rimuovi software"
